EasyMove guide

How much does a man and van cost in the UK? (2026)

Most quotes in this market are a marketing number — “from £26” — and the invoice on the day is something else. EasyMove publishes the actual component rates, so you can see exactly what you're paying for. Our minimum fare is £55 and includes the driver and van.

The 2026 rate card

These are the prices you pay — EasyMove is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. The per-mile rate covers the van driving out and back, which is why it's a real cost, not a “from £26” headline.

What you actually pay: a worked example

A one-bed flat move across town — a 3-seater sofa, a double bed, a wardrobe, a fridge-freezer, a washing machine and about 10 boxes — fills a large van to roughly 85%. With a driver and one mover, that comes to around £240–£300 including VAT, with £25,000 cover included. For moves over 75 miles a dedicated van is a full day plus an empty return leg, so we price those by hand rather than instantly — call us and we'll quote it fairly.

Why the price won't change on the day

Stairs, waiting time, long carries, parking, ULEZ, the congestion charge and traffic are all priced into your quote. The only thing that changes it is you adding items or changing an address. If our estimate is wrong and your inventory was honest, we absorb the difference. That's our Price Lock.

Man and van cost — FAQs

How much does a man and van cost in the UK in 2026?

EasyMove’s minimum fare is £55 and includes the driver and van. Beyond that, the price is built from a van call-out (£32 small to £55 Luton), crew time (£38/hour driver-only up to £76/hour with two movers) and a per-mile rate by van size (£1.00 to £1.62 per mile) that covers the van driving out and back. EasyMove is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to your price.

Is a man and van charged by the hour?

Most operators charge by the hour with a 2-hour minimum, which means delays cost you money. EasyMove estimates the time from your inventory and gives a fixed price, so the quote is what you pay.

Are stairs, parking, ULEZ or waiting time charged extra?

No. With EasyMove, stairs, waiting time, long carries, parking, ULEZ, Clean Air Zones, the congestion charge and traffic are all priced into the quote and never billed on the day. This is our Price Lock.

Is goods-in-transit insurance included?

Yes. Every EasyMove booking includes £25,000 goods-in-transit cover and public liability cover as standard — it is never a paid add-on.

What is the cheapest man and van option?

For a single item or a very small load over a short distance, EasyMove’s £55 minimum fare applies. Being flexible on the date (a 3-day window) with our Backload Saver can cut around 22% off larger moves.
